We recently painted the cabinets in the kitchen and they are looking AMAZING! However, now that the cabinets are bright white {painted with Behr Marquee Ultra Pure White} everything else in the kitchen is looking a little dull and yellow aka dirty. I have starting planning for the kitchen renovation and here is what I have come up with.
For the paint on the walls I want something light and cheerful. I was thinking something along on the lines of a light blue/green or gray {depending on the accent color we go with}.
Behr, Reflecting Pool
Behr, White Sapphire
Behr, Soar
Benjamin Moore, Healing Aloe
To add a little color to the kitchen, I told my mom we would work on trying to find red accents {yes, I said red.} For some reason, she is really set on having the color red incorporated into her home somewhere. Since I almost hate the color red, this has been a challenge for me, but I told her I would try to find some way to make it happen.
Incorporating a red rug would help bring color into the room in a non-obnoxious way.

However, if I can convince my mom to stay away from red colors, I think a light gray or blue rug, OR a bright blue rug would look much nicer.
We’ll add a more subtle curtain since the rug will be bright and bring color into the kitchen.
However, if we don’t go with the red accents, we can incorporate color in the window drapes.
I want to keep the curtains light by making sure the fabric isn’t to heavy to give a light and airy feel. I’m leaning toward a linen curtain panel rather than something more sheer.
I was thinking of adding bright dinnerware into the kitchen since she has her dinnerware on a set of 2 bookshelves exposed in the kitchen. If I had it my way, I would choose dinnerware that looked something like this…

Whereas, she would prefer something like this…
The Kitchen and the dining area in my mom’s house are connected. Therefore the kitchen table and chairs, which are currently painted white and a light mint green, will need to be repainted to accommodate adding the red accents into the kitchen.

We will keep the table white, just touch it up with Behr Marquee Ultra Pure White in stain, and then paint the kitchen chairs the same white to simplify the decor now that we have incorporated color in other areas.
